Foundation Updates: November 2024

November was a month filled with connection, community and continued progress for The Black Feather Foundation as we worked to support refugee families and strengthen the bonds that bring us together.

We were proud to take part in the Alexandria Soccer Fiesta, a vibrant multicultural event where children of all backgrounds came together to play soccer, share laughter, and simply enjoy being kids. Setting up our resource table gave us the opportunity to connect with many Afghan newcomer children and their families, sharing information, building trust, and creating new friendships. Events like these remind us that sports have the power to break barriers, foster unity, and bring hope to those rebuilding their lives.

In addition to our work in Alexandria, we attended a networking event in Chantilly, VA, where we joined like-minded individuals and organizations striving to make the world a better place. These moments of collaboration are essential, as they allow us to build new relationships, exchange ideas and explore new opportunities for growth and impact.

Throughout November, our team remained deeply engaged in the community. By continuing to welcome Afghan families throughout the DMV area, we continued to lay the groundwork for meaningful relationships and future opportunities. The bonds we are building now will strengthen the programs and resources we provide to children and families in need.

As we look back on November, we are filled with gratitude for the connections we’ve made and the progress we’ve achieved. With your continued support, we look forward to building even stronger communities and creating spaces where refugee families can heal, grow, and thrive.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are making a difference.
