February: Kicking Off 2025 with Service & Creativity

February marked an exciting start to the year for The Black Feather Foundation. We hosted our first volunteer meeting of 2025, bringing together a strong team of 11 attendees—civilians, active-duty service members and military veterans—all committed to making a difference. It was an energizing discussion about the year ahead and the impact we can continue to create together.

We also hosted a special art workshop for Afghan newcomer children, focusing on themes of growth, renewal and generosity. As spring approaches, we encouraged the children to embrace new beginnings and find beauty in fresh starts.
During the session, each child created a tree painting with the option of using their arm as the trunk and fingers as branches, with fingerprint leaves representing how we can bloom where we are planted. The workshop was not just about art but also about fostering a giving heart. In addition to their paintings, the children designed bookmarks to gift to a friend or loved one, reinforcing the importance of kindness, generosity and service to others.

It was a beautiful day filled with creativity, connection, and inspiration. As we continue into 2025, we’re grateful for our volunteers, partners, and supporters who make these moments possible.
