FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Black Feather Foundation Appoints Patti Katter as New CEO

Culpeper, Va.--The Black Feather Foundation (TBFF) board of directors is pleased to announce that it has named Patti Katter as its new CEO effective August 1, 2023.

Katter brings a wealth of leadership experience and a passion for positive change within various communities, including Veterans. Her extensive experience in leveraging fundraising, network building and developing relationships for mission impact, brings a wealth of nonprofit experience.

“Our board of directors is thrilled to introduce Patti, whose personal mantra is ‘Overcoming trials with triumph,’ which is quite fitting for the refugee communities our non-profit foundation seeks to help. She has the passion, drive and commitment we are looking for to improve the lives of some of society’s most vulnerable communities,” said Joseph Robert III, founder and chairman of the board for The Black Feather Foundation.

Katter maintains an active role in numerous nonprofits, notably as an alumni member of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, which serves over 5.5 million military veteran caregivers. In addition to being an author of two books and a co-contributor to three others written for military spouses, she is the host of the talk show "Wake Up With Patti Katter." Katter also regularly features as a guest co-host on "The Decision Hour," a Heroes Media Group podcast that spotlights everyday heroes.

“Patti’s experience within the non-profit community makes her the best fit to lead our organization as she possesses the insight and experience to grow the vision of our foundation, creating a lasting impact on our communities of interest,” Robert added.

In accepting the role, Katter expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead TBFF into its next phase of growth.

“The passion and dedication of The Black Feather Foundation's leadership team played a significant role in my decision to take this position. It is truly inspiring to work with a team that is fueled by the genuine desire to do the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do,” Katter said.  “Together, we can make a profound impact and leave a lasting legacy of hope and positive change in the lives of refugees and displaced persons around the world.”

“As we look to the future, we’re confident that Patti is the right person to lead The Black Feather Foundation in providing the highest level of service we aim to provide for our refugee communities,” Robert said.

The Black Feather Foundation is a 501c(3) charitable tax exempt non-profit organization founded in 2021. TBFF works to collaborate with other Veteran groups and Non-Governmental Organizations to design, build and implement programs to assist with transition and acclimation of refugees and displaced persons. The non-profit continues to be a pivotal leveraging arm in the refugee resettlement process for Afghan refugees after US forces withdrew from Afghanistan in August 2021. Through its COACHES (Children’s Opportunities Afforded by Combining Health Education and Sports) initiative, the non-profit focuses on acclimation of refugee children to their new communities.
